Dog Food Recall Check by Brand

How to Get Dog Food Recall Alerts by Email (Free, From the FDA)

You don't have to check the news to learn about a dog food recall. The FDA runs free email alerts, and you can filter them by brand. Here's how to set them up.

1. FDA recall emails, filtered to your dog's food

The FDA's Enforcement Report has a subscription service. You can get alerts for all recalls, for one category, or only for recalls that match your keywords. The FDA gives "dog food" as an example keyword, and you can also use a brand name. You choose daily or weekly emails (FDA Enforcement Reports).

  1. Open the Enforcement Report page and click Subscribe to Recalls/Manage Preferences.
  2. Add keywords: your food's brand, plus "dog food" and "pet food".
  3. Add the brand of any treats or supplements too. In September 2026, two Fi dog supplements were recalled for possible Salmonella.

Note: the Enforcement Report lists a recall once the FDA classifies it. Sometimes it lists one earlier. A company's own press release can come out days before that. For the fastest news, also use step 2.

2. Company announcements as they're posted

Many pet food recalls start as a company announcement that the FDA posts as a public service. The animal and pet list is at FDA Recalls & Withdrawals (animal & veterinary). FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine also has email updates, including Animal Food and Pet Health topics (sign up here).
